Choosing an Ankle Tattoo Design

Many of my friends got tattoos when they were teenagers. I myself had always wanted to get a tattoo ever since I was fifteen. However, I didn't have the courage to do it back then; first, because I was afraid of the pain from the tattooing itself and second, because I knew I would get in trouble with my dad if he ever found out.

Now I'm over eighteen, so I have the freedom to do whatever I like with my body. Last month I decided to get an ankle tattoo for my birthday. One thing about getting a tattoo is that it's semi permanent. You will be stuck with your tattoo for a very long time, if not the rest of your life. Yes, nowadays you can have your tattoo removed, but many who have gone through a tattoo removal say it's not worth the pain and the extra cost.  Therefore, it's very important to decide on a tattoo design that you really love and can live with for many years to come.

That's why I decided to go to a tattoo parlor just to browse through the tattoo designs and choose one that would really represent who I am. I flipped through several tattoo books and looked at many tattoo designs, but they were mostly childish or cheesy. Another tattoo book contained some interesting artwork, but a number of them looked scary, even hideous. I wouldn't want any of them on my body. I had been there for about twenty minutes without finding an ankle tattoo design that I really liked, and I was starting to get a little frustrated.

Then one of the tattoo artists, who was quite an attractive young guy, approached me and asked if I needed help deciding on a tattoo design. I told him I wanted something cute and feminine on my ankle. So, he started asking me some questions about what I liked, my interest, and even my beliefs.

After listening to my answers trying to figure out who I was, the artist picked up a tattoo book which I had not yet gone over. He smiled and said, "I have just the perfect tattoo book for you." I opened the book and saw some new age and pagan related tattoo designs like pentacles, zodiac symbols, moon and stars, and fairies. Perfect! Finally we were getting somewhere.

Seeing my eyes light up, the tattoo artist smiled again. He then stood beside me and we went through that one book together looking for the perfect ankle tattoo design. We came to a page filled with fairy tattoo designs, and he pointed to one artwork saying, "I think this will look great on your ankle."

I couldn't agree with him more. I almost jumped in excitement as I looked at this beautiful piece of art. This tattoo design consisted of a barefooted fairy with long hair covering her chest, kneeling on a flower, gazing at a crescent moon and a few stars above her. Yes, this would look perfect on my ankle, as this tattoo design represented me in more ways than one.

I'm a barefoot free spirit who loves wandering in a peaceful dark night gazing at the moon and the stars which I believe have special powers. Since I hardly ever wear shoes, this ankle tattoo would be a perfect complement to my toe rings and ankle bracelets.

I thanked the tattoo artist for helping me find this wonderful ankle tattoo design, and scheduled an appointment to have my left ankle tattooed a couple of days later. It did hurt a little but not quite as bad as I had expected. The result was definitely worth the minor pain, the price, and the time spent going through all those tattoo designs. I now have a really cool tattoo on my left ankle that I'm really proud of. I'm already thinking of getting another one for my right ankle.

Wow, it's cool that you got an ankle tattoo for your birthday. My girlfriend and I have been thinking of getting tattoos ourselves but she's a bit concerned about the pain. I'll have her read this article and hopefully it will give her some encouragement.
